Gas furnaces. which brand is better?

American Standard was at the top of the list of both furnaces and AC on Consumer Reports.

That being said you need to digest that with a grain of salt. Both were based on a poll of 800 consumers called and surveyed about repairs if any were needed. No telling where these 800 households came from geographically or what type of people or class they were.

In addition AC ratings was done almost 3 years ago and furnaces near 9 and again 1-2 years ago. You can see a lot could of changed and all name brand products have seen great improvements and advancements.

Please note that Trane & American Standard are the same with exception to some visual differences to the outdoor units.

My advice is go with a reputable dealer of any brand in your area that has good standing with BBB and the community.

Also, today it is worth it to have the best and most efficient your budget can afford (both you and home resale). You should strongly consider getting the variable speed drive on your blower for efficiency & comfort.

    furnces

I have been using them for 15 years. Olsen, they have re designed the line and I love it, the new 2 stage is sweet, simple and easy. true 4 position unit, no kits required.

I know they sell them in the US, not sure if in your area.

    install most important

Brand does not matter near as much as proper design and install. You may also want to find out what kind of equipment support you have in your area. Some brands that sell only direct to dealers may have limited support in the way of parts availability and such. Better to get a contractor with excellent references and that may be a member of the bbb. Ask for a heat loss and gather info before you buy. Also consider multi stage equipment which is much more comfortable that single stage systems.
