Burnham Series 2 boiler - banging

I had my old boiler replaced, complete w/ circ pumps, expanaion tank, etc. and peripheral equ. a few months ago with a Burnham Series 2 (model 206xxx) My home has 3 zones and slab heat in the basement floor. The boiler bangs and thumps on start-up. Obvious conclusion was air in the system but exhaustive bleeding, installation of a loop (with shut off valve)and extra air scoop has not resolved the problem. The noise is coming from within the boiler itself, not the external piping. The installation contractor seems at a losss as to what to do next. Any thoughts?

How many bangs and thumps ?

I think this unit comes with an isolation relay that might be directly mounted to the inner boiler jacket . Makes a good thumping noise on startup on a few we've installed in the past .
