Have used standard CI boilers for this in the past. Sussman makes a stainless steel electric steam generator. What kind of modulation is required? Is there a steam control valve, or must the boiler be controlled for this?

    Is this a

comfort application or a process application, Mark?

Dri-Steem and Armstrong both come to mind. Very good control packages. Electric and gas fired, made for the application.

How many PPH or how many CFM is being moved, how much outside air and what RH is desired to be maintained?

I have been using Carel Humisteam or General wall mounts. Seem to be working well. The price of these things have dropped quite a bit. I'm pretty sure General is a relabeled Carel..start with them. hth!

    Steam Humidifier

Just installed 5 Dri-Steem self contained units at the University of Chicago. Very appealing to the eye and very easy to install. Start up was a snap and seemed to do thier job. First time installing them so have no idea about longevity. There web site is www.dristeem.com The model we installed is the VM99-10-DI

Nortec is very nice, but may be more suited to a commercial application. I'm not sure how the sizing goes.

I just saw the new Honeywell product. Don't know the pricing, but it looked like a pretty nice item. If I remember right, the 5 gallon size is available now, next size up should be out any day, and the biggest one in a few months.

    Heads-up

Mark, some steam humidifier manufactures make special models for high altitude.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

I have seen the unit from Honeywell you are referring to. The "TrueSTEAM", I think. This unit is a residential humidifier that uses a resistive heater. I am just not sure about the plastic tank. All safeties aside, seems like it would melt terribly if the heating element were ever run dry.
