Noisey boiler

Sorry JJ. This is a gas boiler. Guess I forgot to mention that.

So Joel, the solution is a muffler? This is a tight room so I'll have to see if one can fit in. I'm an oil guy so I'm not familiar with a muffler. I'll do a little checking around on the web.

Thanks.

I was just at my brothers in VT for two days skiing. THey have a Weil Mclain GU-4. When the boiler is running it sounds like a jet engine, a fairly load scream. I imagine it's by the burners. Does anyone have any experience with this problem and any suggestions on how to quite it down?

    Nozzle

That boiler probably has a solid pattern nozzle in it. I was able to quiet mine down considerably by going one size smaller, and to a semi solid pattern. I have heard that using a hollow nozzle might even be better. Whoever normally works on the boiler should be able to make some adjustments to quiet it a bit. It won't ever be as quiet as a gas boiler- just the nature of the beast....

    muffler

You can tune it quieter as already suggested. Also Viessmann and Buderus both sell Stainless steel boiler mufflers. These work VERY well and are high quality think Borla car exhaust. I offer them as an option on every install
