The cost/the quality

An interesting conversation with a customer occured yesterday regarding cost.

We recently replaced a 30 year old leaking hot water boiler. Piped to a system with rads. We pumped away.

The installers vented the rads after refilling the system and as they approached one in the den, the customer said
"that one has never worked". He was totally amazed that
it not only worked, but heated the den.

Yesterday we were talking about the boiler that was installed and he asked if it was a good one. I replyed
yes, boilers of this type (cast iron)are all basically the
same, and that he really did get a good price. His remark was "that old boiler only cost x". I replyed that back then cars did not cost what they cost today, and remember...you now have heat in areas that you never had it before. He nodded his head "yes, your right..why is that?"
Pumping away. They quality of a job far outlasts the cost.

Thanks Dan, for the books! I read "pumping away" at least 18 years ago, it made sense. It has made us a good following and a great source of revenue. The others have added to it all.
