Try turning DOWN the pressure! A one pipe should be set at
about 8oz to cut out. That is assuming there is a vapor-stat and not a pressuretrol. If you have a pressuretrol
turn it all the way down.0 -
1 pipe steam rad vent problem
it has a pressuretrol which is turned down rest of system is good no banging or leaking vents0 -
Is this system ALL one pipe?0 -
yes it is and thanks for your help0 -
My Pleasure...what has changed on this particular rad?
Did the problem just start or..is it long standing?0 -
steam rad vent problem
its a new problem worked fine for years0 -
Which of the fine mainline vents did you install?0 -
i only installed main line vent on basebord a #75 vent after replacing an adjustable vent0 -
I think I would look at the SYSTEM mainline vent. Sounds like you only have THAT vent working.0 -
if that was the case wouldnt the other radiators be having the same problem0 -
Maybe...but think like water and steam, you have had your eyes on this system. I have found that by sometimes CLOSING my eyes,I can see better what is happening inside
the piping.
A really wise man once said "high pressure goes to low pressure...ALWAYS".0 -
no pressure is good in system i believe i have a blockage in piping that i couldnt clear with water and may need to repipe if pressure was problem in 1 pipe system it would affect other radiators i would think0 -
well..what is the purpose of the vent on the rad?
What is the purpose of the mainline vent, and where should it be in the system?0 -
to remove the air until the steam gets there then close the main line vent is on the return in basement near boiler i am not the homeowner im the plumber trying to fix this i appreciate your help but dont understand why your asking me that question0 -
Because it serves another purpose too. It allows air back in to the system when the vent cools. This prevents a vacuum from forming. If the mainline vent in the basement is not venting or vacuum breaking, it is possible that the one you installed is doing it for the entire system.0 -
i understand that but if that was the problem wouldnt it efect the rest of the system0 -
Maybe not. Good luck:)0 -
ok thank you for your help0 -
