comb. analyzer
OK, I'm shopping for a new combustion analyzer. The Testo salesman tells me to be careful about buying a bacharach, hints that there is some financial cloud over the company and may not be around long. I want a good machine, am familiar with the bach. and want service on the thing if I buy it. Testo seems like a good machine and I know some here on the Wall think highly of them. Question at hand is: Does anyone know or feel bacharach is on the way out? Or am I right not trusting the sales guy?

Hard to tell
They were acquired by an equity firm in september of 07, could be a break up and sell off or just what you heard was rumor.0 -
Testo
Check out the Testo thread on OTT we've been having a ogoing topic on them.
I do have to say i do like my testo 327-1
and i have a couple of other pieces of testo equipment and just ordered thier 317-3 CO-Stick.
But i also have to admit that my old
bacharach wet kit still rides with me every day.

Sad to see they have to sell that way!
It is terribly unfortunate that a manufacturer has to rely on "bad mouthing" a competitor by using totally false information. If what Bryan has posted is accurate, it is a sad commentary on where we stand today. I'm sure at some point there will be all kinds of denials that it was said etc. but truly a sad commentary.
As a manufacture's rep for the Bacharach Company, I can assure you that they are not on their way out. The firm recently changed hands (2007) with a group from management and outside financing now providing the leadership, something that happens everyday. There were some false and inaccurate rumors going around, none of which were true.
I can testify to the quality of their products, the continued dedication and support of their fine employee base and their commitment to not only their existing product line but their introduction of new and improved products.
All I can say is stay tuned.0 -
Really?
A salesperson using puffery to sell something? I automatically distrust a salesperson that comes out and slams another competitor. Look at the honorable people here as in another thread. They don't do it.
Or be like me - research the heck of it and then buy the wrong thing...0 -
who said
Just to clarify, it was not a Testo official, only a counter guy at the local supply house.0 -
Glad you clarified
Unfortunately, Bryan, your first post read "Testo salesman", thanks for clarifying.0 -
Analyzer
Bryan,
The way i choose my analyzer was i asked the guys at the supply house which ones they had the most trouble with
as far as haveing to be serviced, reliabilty, and such.
I was'nt looking at cost or such because my theory was i only wanted to by it once.
