For those of you running Windows XP, etc I recommend a free safety scan using Windows Live One Care. If you go to this link:

Go to the bottom of the page and click on the tab for "Full Service Scan" It is best to do this when other programs are not running. It will usually take an hour or more to complete. It is engineered by Microsoft and it rather effective at speeding up your computer.
