Water Pouring Out of Boiler When Cleaning Pigtail
I cleaned out the pigtail on a pressuretrol a few weeks ago and when I took the horizontal nipple out of the boiler, about 5gals of water came out. This is a very old 4 family residential steam boiler, I'd guess about 225,000-250,000 BTU.
I thought the water level was supposed to be below the pressuretrol nipple so the pressuretrol would read steam pressure.
The boiler was working OK though.
Is there something wrong with this picture?0
