New Utica Steam boiler, two pipe system. I know it should be 2" from the water level down to the center line of the close nipple. But what water level are we talking about. Is it the maximum level shown on the sight gauge, or the minimum level shown on the sight gauge, or the actual water level that occurs when the boiler is off, or the actual water level when the boiler is running and the water is out of the boiler. In my boiler, it is piped to be 2" from the mininimum water level on the sight gauge. Am I OK? If not, what is correct??

Normal water line during operation
That's my take, I would say being lower will be ok. Tim0
