Long run from tank to burner

Is the oil tank higher than the burner or lower? Oversize the oil line and put in a tiger loop.

will it work
I am not familiar with long oil line runs; I'm always within 50 feet. I'm looking at a job where the Roth tank will need to be about 90 feet away from the Riello burner. Small GPH, like .70 or so. It would be better to run the line overhead as well, but if this is going to add to the complexity I could run down low.
This is in a garage environment, if i did it in black pipe would that make any difference?
Thanks,
Gary

oil
same floor level. I may want to run the line about 10' off the floor though. How about 1/2" black?

for sure . 1/2\" black iron
has less friction and more volume in a single pipe system. valve the end to the first filter. install a vacuum gage ahead of the tiger loop combo or triple filtrate it with a suntec with an OSV... ahead of the tigerloop combo ...on large systems 2" you would want a loop of 2" with take offs to the appliances and a transfer pump.
induce flow with your transfer pump so the oil line is purged of air. Good way to go ...if you get any suction side leaks in the future an easy way to help identify 'where', is to paint the BI with red primer, a small leak will show as a darkened joint. a union somewhere in line is also a good thing ...as mother nature sometimes rattles our lives around a bit, with things like earth quakes.0 -
try
to use 5/8" copper, Gary. I would avoid BI..it likes to gook up really fast, plus you have joints..Agree on the Tiger Loop.0 -
copper or steel
I can do either one, just an esthetic thing I guess. With steel, I'm guessing the goop isn't naturally occuring in the pipe itself is it? Because of the roth, I'm not gonna take bottom-sludge from the tank like a regulal steel oval tank. Thanks,
gw

tigerloop
I talked to the tigerloop people on the phone when I had a problem with a long line. They told me because of the flow I only needed the 3/8 line. The lift is the concern, you want very low vacumme..... the tigerloop will only draw what you burn so 3/8 could be correct? but I would try to run the line low..... When you come out the top of the tank go to the floor add no valves or any restriction.......I would use the tigerloop with a vacumme gauge and if posible use a burner with a two stage pump or at least with bigger gears than the riello....... riello fuel units are very hard to run with any vacumme. good luck0
