Antique Westchester Boiler

Pictures of the Rating Plate would be helpful. There is no guarantee that it was sized properly in the first place. My suggestion is to - Step One: use the Find a Professional" section on this site. Step Two: have a qualified contractor come out, do a site assessment, determine what system you have and then determine the correct equipment you require...

    1896 Winchester

I have an existing boiler in a pre 1900 home that we are looking to have changed out. This boiler is a Westchester.... patent 1896, it looks to be originally coal converted to Natural Gas feeding rads (assumed to be steam). Looking for information regarding this unit. All help would be appreciated. Unit is located in MA.
  • Nothing on

Westchester. National/U. S. had a Winchester. Plate(s) probably not there. To find rating do the following.

Measure inside diameter of the fire pot. Thats the section w/ the large door. Then count the sections. Base, fire pot, intermediate(s), & top.

Post your findings here. Or, go to Dan's Library.

Can you post pictures of the boiler? Is there a patent number next to the patent date?

I was mistaken the door says Winchester, here are the pics of each door.
  • Nothing there.

Go back to my previous post. Do it. Then we may be able to help. Hope you're not trying to size a new boiler on what's there now.

Boiler doors have been sealed, I don't want to mess with that. In response to replacing the boiler from what's existing, I would hope that if I choose a "professional" contractor they would perform a calculation to determine what size of boiler I would need to replace this one.
