a customer wants to add hercules " scout " to a moderately dirty boiler that already has a bottle of hercules liquid cleaner in it. what could happen . the guy is a good mechanically inclined guy but also a bit of a bedbug. thinks the water should be clean enough to drink. boiler is new w/ new return & was skimmed before adding liquid cleaner. i told him to give liquid time to work but he is very impatient .

steam boiler water
another bottle of cleaner probably won't hurt anything, however to many chemicals or other solids in the water could cause the water level to surge and cause water level problems0 -
Surge?
How much rapid movement in the sight glass would be classified as a "surge"? (I have a 1-pipe residential steam system, V7 boiler).
Since water is being turned into steam and sent up the pipes, when the boiler fires but before the condensate starts returning, there will always be a temporary slow drop and rise in the water level, correct? How far should the line move?
thanks
