on every ones part. best idea is to keep them in the building envelope, mark out where they are located and consider first some other placement ,...like coming out of the floor behind the end cover trim.

    Hi,
Recently a contractor I hired punctured some how water heating pipes in the wall of our condo while installing some baseboards. The problem is that the heating pipe was installed directly against the drywall so there was practically no chance to miss the pipes. (Granted, he should have been aiming for the baseplate and instead used 2" staples ~3" up)

I believe that general water pipes are to be installed in the center of the wall (or be protected by plates. Is this the same case with heating pipes?

I am trying to figure out who to blame the most. The contractor for not nailing at the correct height, or the condo for not having the pipes installed correctly in the first place.

    Thanks for your info

    carpenter

should know the 1 1/2 inch rule, that is, wires, pipes and stuff can be within that area, heating contractor should have used nail guards where necessary. and then the inpector should have caught the error........

    Center in stud

I center my pipes in the stud cavity as much as possible and ALWAYS use nail guards at stud penetrations.
