Venting Mains w/Little Vertical Clearance

I have a one-pipe counter-flow steam system, so the mains pitch upward as they fan out from the boiler. This, combined with a lathe and plaster ceiling in parts of the basement result in very little vertical clearance for venting the mains. I've read here that a 6" nipple going straight up is the recommended mains venting configuration. Is there another method that requires less vertical clearance?

3 things...
you could come off the side of the pipe, cut a opening in the plaster to accommodate the vent or you could on the farthest radiator and install what some call a King vent. Simply put is is a tee placed where the rad valve is, a straight valve replaces the angle valve and a bushing and a main vent goes in the top of the tee....kpc0
