    thermostats????

Would anyone know of wireless thermostat conversion available? Current system: Vito 200, LLH, zone valves and circulator. Client would like (after the fact) complete remote control of temp, both temp reporting via net or telephone and the ability to adjust zone temps before he heads to the cabin. Your ideas?? tN4 comes to mind (not wireless I know but workable) - and I will do a bit of research this afternoon - but are there others to consider?

Viessmann will build you a control pannel.

you delineate the functions and parameters .

Viessmann makes a simple (and inexpensive for them) accessory telephone interface for the Vitodens 200.

Functions are basic: You can call in to change the boiler from normal to reduced mode (or other simple changes via closure of dry contacts) and the dialer will call up to 4 numbers as a freeze warning. No reporting of temperatures or operating status and no way to make actual adjustments.

    thanks Mike -

my electrical guru in Calgary has found a unit that will wirelessly control up to 4 tstats, heating & cooling, & report indoor and outdoor temps. It is both voice and touch tone activated. It replaces the "normal" type tstat with a digital interface which you can talk to - includes the telephone dialer too. My intention is to control space temps rather than boiler temps. I could switch the Vito a number of different ways - I think though for this remote location - this would be easier and give the client the required bells and whistles.

Could you share the name of the device manufacturer and the particular model number that you are considering?
    Thanks Alex

    sure -

Venstar - Model ACC 0433. Apparently there are a few neat dialers out there that can ramp temps up or down - at reasonable cost too.

not out of the woods yet -

The Venstar had a lot of features that were attractive but not well suited to a retro. Have now been looking at an Iworx system that may suit client. Between me and my electrical designer - we have come to the conclusion that running 18/2 for thermostat control gives no latitude for future changes. In fact all systems requires some sort of temp reporting back to CPU via hardwire - there are wireless controls - but only to change the set point(s) - zone control, boiler control etc are separate issues.
