i'm trying to talk them into the changes, but they swear that the 79 was there before, and.....there are 5 other air vents on the other side of the wall for each loop
according to everthing i find, b&g/ibr/holohan etc, it doesn't make sense to me. and i certainly don't see any sense to feed the cold supply direstly to the return

you said; 'Wondering if your sucking air on #79 there?'

what made you suspect that, and how would it happen?
as in, what would be the reason for a pressure differential to cause the 79 to suck air if the system is holding normal pressure?

    Regarding my concern

With out the expansion tank and fill located at air scoop, I felt that if check in #79 was not working that you could quite readily suck air at that point. Also the changes I suggested will greatly help your air removal to expansion tank if done so I feel. Good luck, Tim

    If you have a....

conventional expansion tank in a hydronic system there must be no other air vents in the system. nay stray air must go back to the tank...other wise the tank will water log sooner....kpc

yep, and that's what happened. but now i'm wondering how air has entered the system and causing no water flow to some zones, and the need to bleed, AGAIN!

Water log, relief leaks, fresh water enters!

    That's usually the drill.
  • so,

with the fresh water entering, along comes the 'new' air, as in, the O in H2O?

    just plug up...

where the air vent is and see what happens. I bet the problem goes away. kpc
