Pro Press and oil tanks

Can the fill and vent be piped in copper with ProPress fittings? We just ran across one.

I found on the ProPress site that it looks like the system is compatible with Fuel Oil as long as the HNBR seals are used. Is there anyway to know this from looking at the fitting?

I'm not too fond of the idea either. I'll talk to the reps at AHR.

Yes in germany (and i am not sure if it was the mappress system) they have different color o-rings for different situations, they even have metal pipe and fittings that we used 30years ago and it has a good track record (no failures with the o-rings) I have been talking to the "Germans" about offering this in the USA.

    If it was supported......

...... as it should be, what would the issue really be? Granted, copper is more than black pipe, but labor for black pipe is considerably more than copper. I'm not saying I would do it, but at the same time, I would be open to it if it's in the NFPA guidelines.

I looked in 31 but didn't see anything. I'll try again.

Found it, 8.2.1 Steel, wrought iron, or sch 40 brass.

    Thanks

Heatboy, why is Iron more Labor intensive? I'm using a Dewalt Chopsaw for all of my Iron/Copper/Unistrud/Aluminium and wood all in one Blade at high RPM too. Also you do not have to Sand/Paste/or deburr as much.30years ago we used a system that did just that and we were flying with these Installs. HM

    I assume.....

..... we are talking about cutting and threading iron pipe as opposed to copper and ProPress, right?

No.Think of a Propress That is instead of copper is Steel or Steel/PE.

    Well then.......

...... there is probably little difference. I'm pretty sure the NFPA wants screwed pipe. I doubt the fittings would be legal according to the powers that be as it is currently written?

I know around here, cooper not allowed, must be black pipe. Black pipe will hold tank in place for the most part in case of a flood, where copper will bend and break.
