Brazzed plate heat exchangers from Triangle tube they seem to be very well made and work just fine. I recentley was quoted a ITT brazzed plate heat exhanger it was quite a bit less. It looks the same. Is it?

I think
I believe if I remember right the B&G/ITT heat exchanger is made near Buffalo NY, and is a nice unit. It compares to the TT unit in quality, size and selection. As of a couple years ago they were within a few % of each other in distributor cost. If you are seeing a big difference in your price Im sure it is attributed to the wholesalers buying level/stocking plan, quantities and/or their chosen markups. I might add that these HXer's have been out for almost 3 years and they may be trying to break into your market with competitive pricing.
Typically plate ht exchangers are considered a C or D stock item which means high inventory cost with regards to turns (sales) and that justifies a higher margin by a stocking distributor that generally knows how to stay in business.
