need help to purchase a new oil heating system
I don't know where to begin. My oil company only sells the "System 2000" My plumber says it's too complicated and overpriced and that there's much better furnaces. Our current system is 30 years old...developing monthly problems and leaks, rusted coil and I'm told it's time to replace the entire system. I can't seem to find any websites online which rate or review brands of oil hot water furnaces ...what brands are best, best reliability, what system is best, what is the best way to get better supply of hot water (we currently heat with a coil through the burner) and run out quickly. I don't know where to begin. I would appreciate recommendations for a new hot water oil system. Thank you.0 -
What does
What does your plumber recommend? If he feels the sys 2000 is too complicated is he the one who will be working on it? Like buying a new car, lots of questions.

Larry, that is a nice looking boiler.
do you have a distributor in Alaska?0 -
Personally I prefer the System 2000 also I think it is a tremendous option. I like them with Riello burners although the Riello option is slightly louder then the Beckett.
I recommend the system 2000 I have installed 50+ of these systems and I have yet to find an unhappy customer.
Also they are not as complex as your plumber thinks. There was an error rendering this rich post.

System 2000
I went to another heating contractor yesterday ...he said that there have been "problems" with the System 2000 and because of that, he no longer installs them... His recommendation is a "Viessmann" Anyone heard of this system or have experience with it? He'll come this week to talk to me about it.0 -
think about this the future
youy are right to ask lots of questions if your plummer is also your service tech what brand does he like different areas like different boilers in penna we use Burhamn and have lots of sucess with them and most the other plummers use this brand 7 out of ten i service in this area are Burhamn i also like the beckett burner when u are trained on a certain item you tend to stick with it til u run into problems i have serviced others they seem to be ok system 2000 there are none i am aware of here so i'd be green on it go with one you feel can be serviced by more than one person or company my thought royboy0 -
couple of things
Has your plumber done a heat loss? If you are going to invest in a new heating system make sure it is done properly with a heat loss of your home and if your hot water is to be supplied some type of priority control should be used.
There are alot of mixed feelings about the system 2000 boiler, some good some bad. I have never installed one and i dont think i ever will. Viessmann makes a great boiler and they have a few different options to fit different budgets. I recomend any type of three pass oil boiler, you will save money on fuel just by starting there. If you can afford weather responsive controls and domestic hot water on priority you will see a much greater fuel savings.0 -
system 2000
Danielle it seems the people who install system 2000 boilers love them everyone else hates them and it isn't because it is too complicated it actually isn't smart enough.System 2000 boilers self destruct they cycle like mad and I have yet to see one celebrate a fifteenth b-day.I would not put in anything but Viessmann myself.0 -
Thank you for everyone's suggestions ...I have the first person coming Wednesday to give me my first estimate...thanks for the suggestion to request a heat loss...will let you know what everyone says0
