Where oh where...

Where can I find a curve for an old B+G? I've tried my local motor shop and distributor, all I get is blank stares and silence... :-)

7.5 hp 1745 rpm
Ident: D98
Serial: 1542347
Below serial: 185011

Also, what is the equivalent pipe length of a 1.5" CI 90?

The Wall hasn't ever been stumped!

    B&G

    Try B&G.

If I'm not mistaken, this should be a three phase pump. If it is, based on hp & rpm it "should" be cross referenced with a 2"inch, not 1&1/2"inch pipe diameter. I come up with apox. 139' ft. head @ 77gpm using 2"inch obviously it also depends on which impeller is used too, but it should be close.

    Actually...

This pump is actually piped in 6"... A 7.5 horse in 1.5 or 2 inch would make quite a show! The discharge manifold has a number of runs, the longest run, which I am trying to calculate eq. head for, is piped 1.5 inch and is starved for flow... It has 142 feet of 1.5" pipe with 12 90 deg. ells each way. My distributor "says" he is in contact with B+G but after 2 weeks wait I'm seeing the handwriting on the wall and seek solutions here on the "great Wall". This run has suffered from "poor heat" for many years, I like to cover all the bases so will check pump curve as a precaution before I condemn circa 1968 gate valve and circut setter as the restriction... When I ask when the problem started, the customer gazes to the sky, sighs, and says he can't ever remember it working... more and more I find myself called in on the problems that are "unfixable", I like to think of them as problems that nobody has had enough determination or patience to fix!

    Thanks for your input!

    Brian,

that's a B&G 1510 base-mounted pump. Here are the curves for that series: Curves

As you can see, there are a lot of pumps in that series. You're giving us the motor information and the number of the bearing assembly, which is how I know that it's a 1510 series. The pump info will be on a plate that's mounted to the base rail. The diameter of the impeller will also make a difference, and if the ID plate isn't there you'll have to open the pump and measure it, or you could use gauges.

If the plate is gone, measure the suction and discharge at the pump, and several face-to-face dimensions. That will help the rep identify it.

    Where are you located?

    Dan is the man!

    Thanks Dan,

I'll go back and look at the base rail for another tag... it may be there under layers of filth!

    I'm in Boston, MA.

My pump guy told me FIA had no answers for him... The wrong info explains it but I wasn't even told they needed more info! I know many of the guys at FIA and will contact them directly in the future... Thanks again Dan!
