What is a good Zone Valve Replacement
G Terrill
Member Posts: 13
Went to my garage this morning and felt the cold. Thermostat works fine, looked at the White Rodgers Zone Value (13A03-11) and it appears to be stuck in the closed position. I can't seem to find the replacement so can anyone recommend a reliable zone value. This zone value is at least 15 years old.
I wanted just to change the head but can't find anyone who carriers the zone valves.
Any recommendations?

Couple of suggestions; try the Taco heat coil type, or motorized zonevalves. For your reference I attached the catalog information on both types. Additional information is available at www.taco-hvac.comJoe Mattiello

In all the years of service,I've found my own little saying for HONEYWELL zonevalves. HONEY :It's the honey for making money (On replacements) Well: It's not build that well so the customer will give you hell.( when you have to replace it every year). Hey i should not be so negative..I've pulled out some very old Honeywell zone valve in Nj that were approx. 35 years old and we just preplaced it because it was that old but it was still working.0 -
Taco is the way to go
Call me bias ( they are made in my home state) but the Taco 570 family of zone valves has never really given me any real problems. Yes I have had to replace a head here and there, the product is available so its a quick fix and Im on my way. I believe I have seen most heads in service 5 + years many longer. ( this is only my opinion ) easy to read manufacture date on manual lever, not buried in some code serial number.
The 570 series uses a three wire 24 volt system.
Taco also has a line of ESP zone valves actually can be run four or two wire. Back in the day they first came out there was an issue. I believe they have corrected that problem.
Good heating to you!0 -
Ditto on the570 series
I've had good luck with the Plunger style thermostats i.e Taco 570 as well,For now I'm running with the caleffi zonevalve and have very little problems.0 -
What kind of problem have you been having?
If you have been having a problem, can you get me the date codes? That's a 4 digit number on the motor or on the metal housing. We also offer 3 different types besides the V8043E1012 series. The V8043E5012 features a slow close motor and silent operation. We also offer a rack & pinion drive valve and a heat motor valve. If you are having any problems, drop me an email.0 -
BillWHoneywell sorry about the"Venting" over you Product(V8043E1061).I Think that the Energy that is Embodied into the making of this valve could be used more Positively. I just see Lot's of Failures with this Design. Therefore i use ether TRV which last much longer or The Zonevalves with not so much moving Parts.(Caleffi's Elec.Therm.Type/Taco570) if, and i see you posted that you now have a better valve ,that will last a little longer than the warranty let me Know what the # are and i'll check it out.Thank you Richard from Heatmeister.0 -
No offense taken...
BTW, we also make TRV's in various configurations, V100, V2000 valves and T100 & T200 thermostatic actuators. Thanks for the reply.0 -
Honeywell V8093E1012 Zone Valve
Hi Bill, I saw this thread researching a base board and supply line knocking problem I have been having this winter. The Model zone valve in the subject line is evidently closing too fast causing this loud knocking noise. If I replace the power head on the 1012 series with a 5012 series should the problem go away due to the slower response of the valve closing against the circulating water head?
Thanks for your help.
