vaporstat mounting [best place]

i wonder if my vaporstat mounted on the factory [peerless 211-a] manifold in capable of the sensativity i would like to have.it seems to lag behind the settings and a low pressure gauge seemed to be also less accurate--possibly due to the water which stands in the manifold.maybe this location is ok for the pressuretrol but not for a vaporstat set at 6 oz.[trying to see how low i can go!]
alternatively mounting on the steam supply pipes would require drilling and tapping through a 6in. dia. fitting.
could i mount it on an unused riser outlet or would the heat get through the pigtail.
thank you all for your constant help on this veritable cornucoppia of knowledge.--nbc

Vaporstat needs protection from steam
It wasn't clear that you intended to move pigtail and vaporstat together but that's what you'd have to do. Actually you'd have to add a pigtail, since you need to keep the original at the boiler for the gauge.
I'm no expert but personally I don't think moving the vaporstat away from the boiler is worth the effort. If I was going to do that I would leave the pressuretrol in place at the boiler and wire the remote vaporstat in series.0 -
How about
taking a pic and posting it here, so we can see what you have?

vaporstat mounting [best place] contd.
here is the peerless manual pdf showing on page 33 the mounting for the pressure gauge,p-trol,and v-stat.i think there is enough water mass in this manifold to affect the low pressure readings,so that's why i thought of moving it to the unused steam riser with a pigtail.it sometimes overshoots the pressure setting [8oz.] up to 16 oz.
also shows how to pipe more than 1 boiler together--p 22.--
sorry to give you the whole pdf-could not figure out how to divide it up
