    your experiences???

I thought it would be a simple service call to a summer cottage - no heat. Turns out to be a consolidated furnace - and on checking for a gas valve replacement - I am told it is no longer produced and I am advised to shut it down and disable because of the risk of spontaneous fire. Would any one have further info on this?

    Consolidated

Went into receivership around 1995, their interests were picked up by Texas Furnace.

This link is the contact info..maybe they can help. I know I can still get parts here in Ontario through Olsen, they carried the Mini Max made by consolidated.

be sure to check HE for leaks - very common on these where the secondary connects to primary exchanger as for gas valve isn't that a standard smartvalve

    Your local Johnstone

Johnstone has a cross for that valve. I service more than a few of that brand around here and the only thing I have trouble finding is the condensate trap. Pretty much everything else is standard off the shelf type parts. They did have a fair amount of HX problems due to the joint between the primary and secondary HX coming apart.
  • Glen what is the letter

after SV9500 is it an M or H. That is a Generation I SmartValve (no longer made) which is replaced by a Generation II valve.
  • The best I can come up with is

    a replacement by SV9501M 8129.

    the letter -

was just a dark smudge. Unable to read it. The GV you suggest - is this a generic smart valve?
  • I took your numbers and cross

referenced to Honeywell cross reference manual I have.
