tankless ifront of tank or behind tank?,existing tank type not k

Probably not tankless WH work on water flow and fire higher rates as water flows more.
I have hooked them up to small water heaters for recerc line with alot of success. But why would you want standing water when you can size the tankless to the load and have endless hot water.

adding tankless
tank type water heater not keeping up with demand,want to purchase tankless and add on infront of existing tank type.The way i see this working when tank would runlow on hot water tankless works less due to not having to heat water as much as say coming from 45 degres to say 110.willitwork?0
