    pex tubing

Has anyone had an experience with good quality barrier Pex blowing out in the middle of the pipe? Long ways away from the boiler. Running dandy for two years. Don't want to name the manufacturer quite yet. Luckily there was somebody home. Any thoughts?

    Twice

Ive seen it blow up on two occasions:

Once when a section of pex was capped and pumped with high pressure air. If I recall it ruptured at about 1800 psi and the caps and SS pinch rings held.

Second time when it froze in two spots and blew out in the middle.

    yes

when a frozen system thawed out and ran wild without feed or low water cut-off. The steam burst the pex.

    pexplosion

was this pex with an oxygen barrier or was this pex, aluminum, pex type tubing. i have had a 20 foot piece of pex, aluminum, pex that i happened to hold by a section that was all distorted as i installed it. i looked at the spot where i felt the deformity and noticed that the aluminum was all twisted and bunched up and there was a spot where there appeared to be no aluminum oxygen barrier and the pex beneath it was very thin as i could depress it very easily.
