Hi Jeff.

The Stratos and Stratos ECO have built-in, self cleaning filters for just the reason you mentioned. The Stratos has been in use since 2001 in Europe and 2004 in North America with excellent track records.

The engineers at Wilo took all of this into consideration when they designed the Stratos series circulators.

I you are going to ASHRAE, stop by our booth. We will have cut-away models of the circulators there for all to take a look at.

...or observation.

What are the chances of an ECM pump failure in an older radiator system loaded with iron oxides? I ask because the magnet rotor are pretty large creating a magnetic field more intense than what we are used to. Could the pump attract enough iron from the water to actually stop working?

And it's one that I would have absolutely no way of answering. Are you talking floaty bit and pieces of ferrous material or microscopic suspended solids?

Would the particles be aligned to Magnetic North? you gotta ask yourself now if you sent one to me an my mouse , Wilo ,i could do this kinda test for you for free..,
