Self Seal tubing adhesive stickers won't come off

Well I'm in the middle of putting up the insulation and many of the self-seal tubes won't seal since the protective strips will not come off without removing the adhesive with it. Maybe the lot is defective but I'm not sure I can leave the insulation up there with those thin plastic strips possibly melting when the heat is turned back on.

Any ideas?

    Buy some white HVAC tape and use that to seal the line and around the outer edges. You'll be good. The white strip won't be touching the pipe so you'll be fine.
