Thrush Adjustable Supply Tee

Trying to figure out what type following are classified as. They are connected to the supply side of most of the radiator branches. Not sure if they are venturri tees or not. They have an 'open' and 'closed' option to the branch and they are all set to open. They don't appear to be the typical diverter tees installeded on the return side, but are installed on the supply side. They are green and labeled 'Thrush Adjustable Supply Tee'.

    Thrush Tees

"Adjustable One-Pipe Thrush Tees make possible perfect balancing of forced circulating one-pipe hot water heating systems. The handy indicating lever can be set easily and quickly for the correct amount of diversion through each radiator or convector. One Adjustable One-Pipe Tee is installed in the branch to each up-feed radiator, convector, radiant baseboard, etc."

"With the use of this Tee, flow through the main is increased...not throttled...when branch flow is reduced. Balancing is accomplished with ease and simplicity. Each radiator receives the right amount of heat." (Thrush Info)

The x-section looks like the tee diverter "scoops" some of the flow into the branch when open, and when the branch is closed, the "scoop" is out of the way of the flow while it shuts off the branch.
