I've posted about my new Amtrol digital pressure switch ( well system ) recently , but check this out...
I went to use some water yesterday afternoon , (after laundry , showers , dishwasher ) , the water barely dribbled from the faucet. So , I go down to the pressure switch and it is displaying " E3 " error. So , I check the paper and E3 is " improper voltage ". My first thought was that I had a loose connection or something , so I grabbed my meter and checked voltage , it read 275 volts . I used a second meter to confirm that I had 275 volts being supplied from the power company. Wall outlets read 138 volts.
I called the power company and reported my findings. I checked neighbors houses on each side of me , each was ok. The linesman traced the problem back to the transformer at the street. He called for the new transformer and a second truck , they changed it out in 15 minutes ( and were happy that they were working on double holiday time ).
I'm not sure if any damage was done to electrical devices in my house , or what might have happened if the over-voltage continued. I think that pressure switch may have saved me alot of grief.
