MA codes for boilers in flood zones?

exploded just after it was hauled in and set up on site. i really wonder if there is anyone watching the chicken coop down there....when things are drug up and down the highways and by ways they need to be pressure tested prior to recommissioning...

i saw pictures of human beings homes floating down river ...as it were , and the water lapping at their feet while they laid exhausted on the roof top....

i would normally not recommend hoisting a boiler up onto the roof top buh that was the only place it was dryish...

in some instances it must be an especially difficult task to write codes for every eventuality and a certain degree of common sense must prevail. i live in a flood plane. if the dyke breaks and the drainage ditches don't re rout the flow down river fast enough , the distance my boiler is away from the ground becomes moot. as it is it is 24" or there abouts to the point of ignition of any sort. AHJ might be a way to go buh you should take every effort to avail yourself of the code addendum for that area....there may even be some copies that are being distributed at the building departments current location in the city you are working.

A while back our man from the swamplands went down to help out ,he might see your post and give you some ideas on where to find accurate information. Timmie wrote up a bit a while ago on what to Definitely not do :) which is sorta helpful to desperate people in desperate times...and he also gave them some idea as to what they need to check and some direction where to find some help . Firedragon stops in ,if he saw this post he probably has some valuable current info ... i hope this helps.

MA codes for boilers in flood zones?

Any MA folks know where I can find the codes for boiler installs in flood zones? I've heard there are regs but unclear to what FEMA zones they apply. State? Local AHJ?

    Thanks.
