First of all, they're boilers. Yes, they can be vented into a single, common chimney, assuming the chimney in question is of adequate size and in good repair. Local codes/fuel codes MUST be followed. If in doubt, call a pro...

Furnace Venting Question
Can two furnaces, one steam, and one hot water, be vented out the same chimney0 -
can be installed but will they vent?
Common misconception is that if you are allowed to install something into a chimney (code approved)it will vent. Whether they vent or not can only be determined with a combustion analyzer and NO other way!!!0 -
hole in the wall
I totally agre with Jim just because there is a hole in the basement wall supposedly connected to a chimney does not guarantee it is ok to use or that it will work. That's why NFPA 31 for oil and 54 for gas require a Level II inspection before changing equipment significantly or selling the home. The chimney may be just 'ok' but it must pass a Level II inspection, which I can guarantee you it will not without a listed liner properly sized and installed to the class of service. That's starting off with an installation that meets the codes. Then Jim is referring to proving it works and not just making assumptions that if all the pipes are together the bad stuff will go up and out.0
