Anyone who has done this sort of thing has echoed Jack's experience.

I've been singing " Do you come from a land down under... " for a week now. I'll try not to embaress the poor kids. Hey I embaress my kids, why should they be left out.

Scott

Two young men to be exact !

My small town is hosting some Australian boys for ten days to go to school here and meet American familys. My wife signed us up for a young man and when she went down for the meeting found out that they still had'nt placed six others. So she said, " We'll take another " .

We've got a good third floor room for them and they should be quite comfortable.

The closer the day gets, we are getting more excited to meet them. I'll post some pictures when they arrive.

    We have

done three different exchange programs Scott and they were all wonderful experiences.

We had a Spanish girl for six weeks one summer and it went so well we then took a Swedish young man for a school year and a Norwegian young man for another. They were in the same classes as our two daughters and were just like sons after a few weeks.

The Swedish guy, Anders, had his entire family: Mom, Dad, Sister, sister's boyfriend, and his girlfriend over for graduation and they all stayed with us. I have a great picture of the entire clan in our old hot tub.

All three still keep in touch, mostly with my two daughters.

    Great fun ahead.

    You may want to

get the "Rosetta Stone" Language package for "Strine", the national language down-under.

Having had an Aussie in my home for years in the past, I learned a few choice idioms in Australian (Strine) and US English respectively:

"Balcony over the Toy Box" = A beer gut. ('spose it could apply to either gender...))

"Wrestling with the Tin-Man" = The act of finishing off the keg after the party is over...

"Technicolor Yawn" = What happens if you lose to the Tin Man.

    Cheers and G'Day, Digga.

Tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down...
