Good Movie

93% at Rotten Tomatoes...

I've been wanting to see a good comedy at the theater ever since "Something About Mary". Thanks WW. Yours (and other) brief descriptions made me check to see if John Waters was the director.

    I saw a good movie

yesterday. "Little Miss Sunshine" must be the sleeper of the Summer. I'd never heard about it but I was chuckling for hours after. It's about a typical American family full of quirky, bewildered, angry, depressed people who can't seem to catch a break. It doesnt sound funny but by the end the whole theater was caught up in it and laughing out loud. Very infectious. Greg Kinnear plays the Father who is a motivational speaker wannabe, who keeps telling his family just to think postive as his world is obviously crashing down around him. Pure pathos. Steve Caneer(sp?) from the 40 year old Virgin last Summer plays the most rational character, as the Gay Suicidal Uncle, which he plays with great seriousness and depth while things around him go crazy. Alan Arkin plays the oversexed heroin sniffing Grandfather. Nuff said. Take a break and catch it sometime, at least when it comes out on video if not sooner. WW

I must agree that this really is a good movie. Every time I tell people about it they are thrown off by the name, which I was too, but it is a comedy about the real life oddities people are faced with nowadays

I heard about it on the radio

Ever since, I've heard others talk about it.

    Sounds good I'll go.

    Scott

    Saw it Last Night

Still chuckling over stuff that keeps popping into my head. I've never heard audience reaction like that. And they were able to crack us all up right after something very sad happened. That's one of the best movies I've ever seen. The characters are unique. That's Alan Arkin's best role ever. And Steve Carell's best role (although Brick Tamlin in Anchorman is a close second). Tony Collett's reactions to Greg Kinnear were perfect through the whole movie. The "routine" was almost hard to hear, because the audience was laughing so hard.

    You're right

The audience was screaming with laughter near the end. I agree with you about Steve Carell. I loved him in Ron Burgendy. "i'm talking loud!!!!", and I stabbed someone in the chest with a trident." Although I'd say this lastest role took some real acting on his part. WW
