I have just installed my first wall hung munchkin and it is the t80 but this week i have a t50 going in ,the vision one kit is not alot of money and gives you outdoor reset ,dwh prority with max run time plus post and pre circ settings foe heat and domestic water and for the money i believe the munchkin is a great entry level condensing mod boiler i know it is not as well built as a viessmannand even with proper service may not last as long but it's a large leap of coin to go from a munchikin to the viessmann but all that aside under most sistutions some piping changes always have to be made and well once you done that changing the boiler in 10 to 15 years would not as big a expense as the original install that's the downside on the up side the modulation with outdoor reset shoulder increase over all comfort and cut you fuel bills by the added eff your getting and the lack of on off burner sydrone on mild not design days .As for the viesmann if i had the coin for the investment i would do it but as for me pushing there products it's hard enough selling what i do sell at a fair price but unless asked i don't discuss them plus the local rep is not pressing hard to the basket pushing them ,as for quality i know the viessmann is built better and i my opion give you at least 20 years with a proper install ed ,designed and serviced system but a munchkin might do just the same .peace and good luck clammy

Compare the Munchkin T-50 to Vitodens 200 (6-24)

    The Munchkin T-50:

    Output of 16,000 to 46,000 Btu/Hr.
Weighs in the range of 58 Lb.
Has 1.25" NPT Boiler water connections
Does not include controls needed to operate effectivly,
    Controls must be purchased separetly.

    The Vitodens 200 (6-24):

    Output of 22,000 - 81,000 Btu/Hr.
Weighs in the range of 143 Lb.
Has 3/4" NPT (adapted) Boiler Water connections
Includes very sophisticated control system, that in
may applications needs no additiona items; but
expansion controls available for more coplicated
    systems.

    Here are my questions:

Is the Munchkin available control systems essentially as good as the Vitodens 200 - for a system that will feed house temperature back as in boiler operation input (Vitoden 200 RS control).

How more durable would the Vitodens be. That extra 90 Lb is not all electronics or a slighlty larger coil and burner (and a similar sized Muchkin 80M wieghs 75 Lb).

Bottom line: would I be better off considering a Munchkin.

    Opposite

The Vitodens and the Munchkin are approaching the same problem, each with a different focus. HTP answered the question "How inexpensive can we make a condensing boiler?". Viessmann answere the question "How can we build the best condensing boiler?" So, I guess you have the same question to ask yourself. Of course there are many in-between boilers. The Munchkin and the Vitodens are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I hope they dont mind me posting a link to the Vitodens features brochure. This is the best overview of the Vitodens I have seen.

  • Viessmann doesn't consider the design of the Vitodens to be "uncompromising" for nothing...
