Polaris waters and First company Air handlers

I have a customer that has a Polaris water heater hooked up to 2 First Co. Air handlers, one is in the basement and the other is located in the attic. The Air handler that is in the attic has given them a problem since day one. On inspection I found that there is gravity Flow to the air handler, they said tht this was the second time that they needed to replace the check valve that came with the unit, also I can here the pump cavatating and air in the lines. The unit is not hooked up like any hydronic heating system, It is installed with a 2 pipe design , no purge , air scoop or any other way of removing the air , which definitely is one of the problems.
I am really confused and hope that someone can help me out.
I called the Polaris tec line and they could not give me any answers to my questions , he said hat they never had an air problem and I'm the frist call they ever had.
Beside repalacing the check valve my other thought is moving the pumps down stairs closer to the heater at least that the air could accumulate in the pump, wich is the highest point of the system at this time. The other was installing purge and an automatic are vent maybe a hoffman at the top of the 2nd floor unit along with an all bronze air eliminator.I just don't want to waste any more of this customers money , she has a long list of contractors bills proving tht she spent alot of money and no one was able to help, That is why I'm asking for your help.
thank you

ok
Fix it for her once and 4 all . We have installed HUNDREDS of First company units with very little problems. We install our own pumps never in the airhandler. Start by throwing the Polaris away , installing a proper boiler and repiping to pump away , problem solved . If you don't you'll probably inherit other hidden problems that she'll expect you to fix for free and you'll get burned .

sounds like a high point air
vent would solve the problem. Also pumping away from the PONPC.
Or is this an open system tied to the DHW?
Being a former Utah boy I would say there are more hydronic contractors, per capita, in Utah than just about anywhere on the planet
Grab a yellow pages you will find dozens!

gravity
I think i would also move the pump to the boiler room and start by a little piping like a main air elimator like a sproivent and install your pumps pumping away from your expansion tank next i would use a ifc pump and install either another flow check on the return or better yet a thermal trap on the reutrn before tying back into the boil
er return that should stop that gravity flow to the attic unit .Did any one add any type of freeze procetion for that attic coil like a frezze stat tyed into the circ relay or a alarm ,never was one for water coils in attics but that's just me peace and good luck clammyR.A. Calmbacher L.L.C. HVAC
