Does anyone know where I can find reference books to teach class on developing fill pressure for multi story building
boiler jobs. How to fill systems and matching the pressure
on the expansion tanks. And what is the formula for finding operating pressure once staic fill pressure is determined. What are the best books to look these up??

Easy-
Height of your system from fill point to highest point in feet. Multiply by 0.433 to get PSI, then add 5 to top it off. Your limitations would be your ASME relief valve setting and your piping pressure class which you ought not go near...
The expansion tank bladder/diaphragm side is charged to this same pressure when cold.
Operating pressure is a function of how much expansion tank acceptance volume you have. Normally I would expect to see a rise of not more than six lbs. over cold fill pressure."If you do not know the answer, say, "I do not know the answer", and you will be correct!"

Pressure on Ex,tank
I think that for Every 2.31 feet in elevation you will need 1Psi. and add appox 5 Psi. as for the Expansion tank air side i fill/adjust it in a relieved stage (no pressure on the water side) and i adjust it to be appox. 2psi less than the fill pressure to keep the Diaframe away from the inlet fitting of the tank so that the Diaframe does not rub against it and create a hole in the Diaframe.0
