rusty water stopping wet rotor pump

I redid a hot water heating system, removing anything that could rust (old steel boiler, iron pump). Now the taco 008 bronze pump has been stalled by talcum powder-sized rust particles which are apparently coming off the old copper tubing. It's been flushed with water but does anyone know if I can safely add an automotive radiator flush or maybe iron-out or something to get rid of the rust once and for all?

system cleaner
Kent, the Rhomar Hydro-Solv 9100 should do a good job of cleaning the system. It is safe for all tyes of heating components. The 9100 diluts 1:50 so 1-gallon will usually clean most residential systems.
You can locate a supplier and get more information on the product on our website at www.rhomarwater.com. If you have any questions, call us at 1-417-862-2600.

Got Oxygen Problem?
Looks like you have a Oxygene Migration Problem ! what i do in these Systems is to reverse Flush,Which pushes most of the rust out of the system Vs. into the Tube and having to "travel" thru the entire Length of the tube.then I use Rhomar. after a Couple Days or Even a week i again reverse Flush the Rhomar out of the system. what kind of Boiler/Airscoop/SS exchanger do you have? If you have a source for the corrosion i.e. Castiron Boilers Cast airscoops,Expansion tank,Circs, and even fillvalves.the Problem will Come back. I have been Using the TT Prestige Since it is made of 439 SS again no Iron parts and a Caleffi Dirt Strainer prior to the return of the Boiler0 -
Listen to Dwight
DO NOT use automotive anything in your heating system.
I have used Rhomar products with excellent results and would recommend them to anyone. It will do the job.

I removed all iron components,
including the pumps, which I replaced with solder-in bronze models. The new boiler is a quietside QVM9-150 (copper tube without headers). I did flush the existing HWBB pipes (3/4" copper) but the old rust is still plaguing the wet rotor pumps. I'll probably try the suggested product. Thanks much to all who helped me.0 -
Something is causing the rust
you need to find and address the cause. I agree with O2 ingress somewhere. all non ferrous will solve one issue, but not the underlying cause.

installed wrong?
doesn't seem like a fine layer of rust should stop a pump, sure its installed in the right orientation?0 -
Indirect waterheater?
Do you have a Indirect Waterheater Hooked up to the Boiler? if so check if the Exchanger is made of stainless or CU if it is made of Grass lined Metall that can also be a problem.0 -
