Install problem feed pipe is too short

After remodeling and adding a hardwood floor was completed, I tried to connect the steam radiator to the valve and discovered the valve was a half inch lower than the radiator. There is no adjustment in the pipe. I tried a coupler in hopes of getting a flexible coupling, but the threads are not the same.
Another suggestion was to route slots in in the floor. Is there any other way other than ripping my new walls apart to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Al

    short pipe

I know it is probably that you want to hear because steam pipes van be very hard to get apart but just take the pipe out and cut a longer one. Don't mess up your new floor you will keep a nice clean look.
  • hmmm,

take the radiator out, router the floor areas 1/2" lower where the legs will sit, replace the radiator. aside from you, no one will ever notice
