Weil-Mclain Problems

I've been a firm believer in Weil-Mclain products. Over the years I have used thousand's of boilers manufactured by Weil-Mclain. I have had very few manufacturer defects that I can recall. In the last two years I have had two Ultra boilers leak from the freeze plug locations. They sent me a repair kit wich one worked the other didn't so I recieved a new boiler. I have yet to recieve any credit on these factory defects. Recently I had installed a CGa-4 in a customers house. Three weeks after initial install I recieved a phone call at 10 PM. She had water on her floor. After arriving and inspecting the damage I noticed a Honeywell Temperature pressuer gauge that had leaked water thru the front. Cleary a defective part. After contacting Weil-Mclain I was put thu the run around and in contact with a legal represenitive. I have yet to remedy this situation. Any one else out there have these problems with Weil-Mclain, any advice.
Thanks ,

Alan Herra

Frank, Do you really think customer service is filtering down to quality control? The gauges were famous for that (at least around here) for awhile. Never had one actually blow out, but had condensate on the inside of the glass. I've changed two on my own boiler until I finally put on peerless gauge that I yanked off a ripout. I've always had a GREAT show of support from Weil everytime I've needed help. I found ONE rep to work with and have done so for a long time now. Even though I dont live anywhere near him anymore he's still my go to guy. Thats how I deal with Weil and everyone else. Try to find the ONE and call him everytime. Its just less aggravation. No problems with the ultra leaking yet. Cant wait!

I have had good support from Weil

Labor credit is tough with all manufacturers, usually I get a material credit from weil to my supplier.

The temperature pressure gauge Tech support knows about. I do not install them "at all" I always order a bushing and standard temperature / pressure gauge.

    You never know, Tom

but it stands to reason bad quality control would overload customer service/tech support. Look at some computer manufacturers.....

    Your right

It all goes hand in hand. It just sounds like one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.

    Weil-Mclain Reps

I'm a Weil-Mclain Distributor in the midwest and our Weil Mclain Reps that work out of Illinois are terrible. They rarely call you back, you need to catch them at the right time in order to get a hold of them. If I need help with something I have to call the factory directly. In my opionion Weil Mclain is loosing customer confidence in my area with the lack of customer support, shipping/packaging errors, and product quality.

    Ongoing problems.

I don't know how to get results from the Weil-McLain company so I don't buy their boilers.
I do buy their indirect water heaters, but that's under protest.
    It's a great tank by a less-than-great company.

    W/M

I have never had a problem with W/M customer service. Its probably the manufact rep that is in your area. I would call corprate customer service I am sure they would help you. They have helped me in the past.
