Snowmelt - DF

My ace crew of Brian, Papa and Dragon just finished this 8,000 sq. ft. snowmelt job located in Potomac, MD. We started this back in August and finished last week. Of course we got our first snow storm about two weeks before we wrapped up and the owner had to have his driveway plowed. Here in DC we consider anything over 1/4" to be a "major storm" and the beltway shuts down and there is a mad rush on the grocery stores!
We used two Camus 600k BTU commercial boilers, a Caleffi hydro-separator, five Grundfos Versa-Flo pumps, three Wirsbo 2" manifolds, about 300' of EcoFlex and approx. 12,000' of 3/4" Wirsbo hePex.
The system is controlled by a tekmar staging control (lo-hi boilers) and a tekmar snow/ice sensor. Now we are awaiting the next storm to see how it performs. -DF

is Beautiful *~/:)
when you install the yard boxes, is there a provision for drainage?0 -
Boxes
Hi Weez,
The boxes are set on a crushed stone base. Unfortunately, the heavy clay soil does not drain well. I may try something different next time to allow the boxes to drain better. - DF

Great job, Dan and crew!
The ball valve, the blue handles- Neles-Jamesbury? I like those and try to get them on a job when I can.
Neat, well executed job as always.0 -
Valves
Hi Brad,
Thnks for the nice comments. Looking forward to meeting you in person in Denver.
The valves are from Cimberio. I like them because the are heavy-duty, the long handles allow for easy operation, and they have dual o-ring seals. - DF
