Will these radiators work?

These are what my customer bought and he wants to use them in his new house. I haven't a clue about them, it appears that the water would flow straight through them and not get to the outer parts of the radiator (you can look through from one end to the other) How can I estimate output per section? This guy is a blacksmith/machinist and is willing to do what it takes to get these up and running. An electric boiler will be the heat source with hydro generator power from a seasonal stream.
He has a sweet 100 acres and is milling a lot of his wood and making things look old and authentic, these radiators would fit right in.

Beautiful old iron...
Those radiators deserve another lease on life. I am happy for them. Check out Dan's book EDR to get some ratings. I do not have my copy handy but then, what fun would that be? You should have a copy anyway...
Those rads will have nice convective properties too with all of those internal fins.
Any radiator will work so long as they are fed from opposite ends with at least one at the bottom. Even if both are at the bottom they will heat up pretty evenly. We have Arco 38" tall radiators fed across the bottom and they spot measure within a few degrees once warm.0 -
Those old flue-type window rads
will work fine. You should only need 1/2" pipe to feed each rad, unless he's doing a gravity system. Once inside the rad, the water velocity will slow down and the warmer water will rise to the top and diffuse throughout the rad.
Ratings are in Dan's "E.D.R.".
