  • my 25yr old burnham

that was a scream in case you didn't hear it

    why the scream you ask?
i read every word of every post of the previous 10yr cracked burnham post, and when i got to mary's centerfolds, they wouldn't show due to some explorer issue.
and ladies and gents, i'll leave the metaphoric magic to your imaginations as to how that felt.

why did i read it all you ask?
one of our, doesn't-like-to-get-dirty techs came in at the end of the day looking oil-burning boiler dirty.
    "burnhams are junk!"
"why, what's up?", i asked in a most sincere tone, while chuckling inside at seeing one of the 'kids' get dirty.
"a cracked section. and it's in the end that's against the wall and piping, so i had to take the whole 'darn' thing apart. and i had to torch the press nips out!"
and self-censoring any further questions, because the youngster gets figgity when i do that, i'll keep you all posted with the details when i find out.

and aside from that, for my radiant staple-up job, i have an '83 cast iron burnham in my basement. i bought it used 10yrs ago, along with a tjernlund power venter and a honeywell aquastat, from a local hvac installer for $350. he yanked it from his customer, and replaced it with a scorched-air furnace. and while i don't use it full time, because i happen to like my scorched-butt, fireplace/ furnace, it's still in operation and doing fine
