cool air comes out of my heating system

We bought a house in August and the last couple of days it has been really cold, but our heating system doesn't seem to work right. The air that comes out is either cool or lukewarm. The A/C worked fine during the summer. We had the heater set on 70 degrees last night but when I got up, the house was 60 degrees. Is this something we can fix ourselves? And if not how much does it cost to get it fixed?
Thank you.

I will assume that the furnace is the correct size for the house as it was there prior to.
and you did not say gas or oil, I am assuming gas because you are not stating that you need to reset the control.
Cost is impossible to determine without knowing what is wrong.
First thing I advise before I go and charge for service is "Did you check and replace your filter?"
A dirty filter will let the furnace light, but trip the over temperature safety (High limit). When this happens the blower stays on to dissipate the heat. Modern furnaces after 5 x times will lock out for one hour, some with the fan running if it is intelligent to know if it was a high limit. because the run time is insufficient, the furnace cannot keep up, and the house gets progressively cooler.
As you only lost 10 degrees last night, I am assuming the furnace lights, runs, but is locking out.
Check the filter, clean or replace, and if it was dirty, reset the furnace by lowing your thermostat to its lowest setting for 15 secondes, then set it where you want.0
