sediment buidl-up in boiler

I noticed this season each time I go to remove the dirty water from my gas/steam boiler the flow was getting slower. I want to take care of this before it gets worse but would like to know more about the impact and solutions. The bioler is about 6 years old. Is this a big job?

You shouldn't be draining your boiler every year. It just introduces more aerated water to corrode your castings.
Or is the water like mud, in which case maybe your wet return is ready to go.Steve from Denver, CO0 -
Initially the water is a dark brown and once it is clear I stop draining. I then refill to line. It is little more than 2 cups every 2-3 weeks.0
