Outdoor Reset

I would feel you would benefit a fair amount with having reset. What temp is the boiler running currently? What type of radiation. If it was part of the job, I would have him do it! Tim

    Outdoor Reset Question

Looking for opinion on whether an outdoor reset would benefit the radiant system that is in a two year old industrial building. The package was sold to have the benefit of an outdoor reset but the controls technician left it out saying "oh, you don't need that." and I wasn't smart enough do do anything but trust him. BUT, i just found it left on site in the mechanical room and wonder if I push the issue with the installer or let it go. Here's what I have: Burnham Revolution RV7 (190MBH), Tekmar 256 control, Argo 3 zone valve control, Erie V8043 zone valves.

I thought I once read that a non-modulating boiler wouldn't (can't?) take advantage of an outdoor reset. If so, I have no idea why they spec'd it and left it on site.

Thanks for any opinions. (I also posted this on RPA board as well for those that peruse both.)

The reset cuts the fire off the boiler when it gets to the desired temp as figured by the reset. Non modulating boilers work fine with these. If your boiler is running at 180* on it's coldest days, it will be far less on a sunny, 40* winter day. That's a few coins every time it fires. It will just use the min temp needed to meet your load.

    sad to hear that

that should be punishable. Have someone else install it; that "person" should not be considered a "controls technician".

    140 degress

The boiler runs at 140 all the time I think. I will re-check that today.

I will talk to someone about having this installed.
