steam radiator

Hello. The steam radiator in my sons room has stopped heating. I cleaned the air vent and it still would not heat. I left the air vent completley off and it heats up fine. I purchased a new air vent the same as the one that was on it and it still will not heat. It only heats when the air vent is completely off. Is the air vent the wrong size...I am at a loss now. We have had issues with this radiator before but I could usually get it working. Thanks

Most likely you need more venting on that radiator. Did some piping get changed? A new radiator added somewhere in the house? What brand is the vent you had and replaced with? If it be what I think it may be you'll need a vent with more venting capacity. If your system is one pipe steam then venting is very much the key. Of course your mains are vented, right? Answer these questions and you'll get to the crux of the issue.0
