Heating question for a standard atmospheric vented 50 gallon hot water heater that is being used for space heating? What should be used for the relief valve, A standard T & P valve or a #30 relief valve rated for hot water boiler? The present valve is now leaking due to a faulty fill valve. The valve that is on now is a #30 relief valve. What is the proper valve that should be on.

    PRV

Since the unit UL is listed with the PRV it must stay on . But since your using it for heat add the 30# valve . Also you need a secondary high limit . We usually add it to the Thermal
couple There s a jumper made by Honeyweel that will work
