Pro Press issues, need some quick advice

I have to overcome the urge to press as I go. I pre-assemble everything, make sure it's lined up first, then the last thing I do is press all the fittings at one time.

When I have it preassembled and lined up, I KNOW that it's plumb and level as a unit/assembly. I even preassemble with all of my unitstrut and cushion clamps in place.

I just finished a job with all 1" and 1 1/4". You have to hold the tubing with one hand while pressing with the other. This helps keep it all lined up. Do whatever will be hidden first, if possible, then you'll see what I mean about holding it in alignment.

It's about the best tool I ever bought!!

    pro Press pros/cons

I need to PP a highly visible mechanical room, I'm worried that I might get some twisting and deflecting. Has anyone (maybe I'm the last guy who doesn't know) figured ouit a way to ensure the problem won't happen? This is 1 1/4" and 1" mostly.

its all experience. You have to know which way the tool will pull and then voer compensate for the direction. The larger stuff is worse. If you can practice a little I know you'll get the hang of it, BUT the price of 1 1/4" fittings make it a little expensive to practive with.

I guess you need to "build it into" the quote :)

Good luck. Done well it can look Great !

    no twist, no problem

I have to resist the urge to press as I go. I get it all pre-assembled, make sure it's level and plumb, then press it all at once.

I just finished a job with all 1" and 1 1/4". You have to start pressing at one end of a run, then go down the line in order.
I hold the tube in alignment with one hand, and press with the other. You can keep it all lined up this way. If possible, press what won't be noticed first, then you'll see what I mean. I bought the ProPress because I couldn't always keep tubing in alignment while soldering. Using this method with the ProPress keeps it all looking good.

    Unistrut and vibra clamps....

Lay your system out so that you can run plenty of unistrut behind it and clamp it with the vibra clamps every couple of feet....set everything up and clamp, then go to town with the PP....works really well, cause if you screw up you just pull it back apart....and fix it, When you have everything just like you want it, the fun begins....

    so far so good

This is actually my own boiler room in my new building (for the business), so it must come out extra special. I'm piping up a Vito with a primary loop above the boiler so i have the choice of adding a boiler down the road, or even a water to water heat pump (have the loops in the ground now running a Waterfurnace Envision). It's in a showroom environment. It's not a basic set up; I'll expalin more when i post pics down the road. Thanks for the advice; makes good sense.

I am sumwhat disapointed with that aspect (crooked pipe) of the propress as well. The propress tool is heavy and for one person on a sissors lift with the tubing swinging on hangers and the crooked tubing the supply house sent ----it's tough for one person to keep it straight. Clamped on strut in a mech. room is a different story.

Lay out the whole thing using the support system of your choice, fasten it all in place and press away. It really helps to have your piping system well thought out and diagrammed in advance. Which is as it should be in the first place.
