Build this condensate neutralizer

I have a pic of a neutralizer, but I don't know who took it. I do know I saved it from a post on here. I've been trying to find the parts that make this up, but no supply house by me has the flat cap (for a bottom) or the cover/fill top.
It's black pvc or cpvc, I'm not sure, sitting on someone's desk with a DeWalt drill next to it for scale.
Would it be OK if I posted it, so someone could help me find the pieces? Even if I don't know who to give credit to?

some scrap 3\" PVC, a plugged closet flange...

I use a UniBit to drill the PVC then a 1/2" pipe tap. Glue in the fittings when you determine the best location.

You can also use a 3" Fernco cap for the end(s) or just one end to replenish the gravel, and mount it on it's side.

    Looks good

I have yet to get around to building one, the shoemakers kid thing. I would just put a cleanout on top to recharge.

    Limestone from any driveway

in Missouri! Some suggest marble chips from a landscape supply company.

Or go to a concrete batch plant and ask for a few handsfull of gravel.

Got railroad tracks nearby? Plenty of washed gravel under them ;)

    Or those thin test discs

the are used to temporarily cap off drain lines.

  • That was

one that I made, they`re just ABS fittings.

    1-3" ABS HxFe adapt
    1-3" ABS C/O plug
    1-3" ABS [solvent-weld] test cap
    2- 3/4" MPTxIns. 90°

    how often

would something like that need to be refilled?
  • refilled

It should easily last a couple of years.
I just use the granulated limestone chips, put them in a panty hose type sock-ette, tie the end and drop-in.
Then on my regular maintenance I check to see/test.

    what's the second fitting

tapped into the top on the back side in your picture? I get the inlet at the bottom and outlet at the top but it looks like you have a second top fitting.

    Spare openings allow

you to fit every application. Sometimes the drain is to the right, sometimes behind, sometimes in front. Feed into the bottom and screw a PVC plug into any port you don't need.

    neutralizer chips

but you'd want limestone or marble or perhaps concrete or mortar chips perhaps (right?) -- granite or quartz chips, for example, wouldn't neutralize the acid in the condensate.

    Yup, need CaCO3

I picked up a bag of crushed coral at the pet store since it was closer than the landscaper's supply yard. Any hard calcium carbonate should be fine. Watch out for the aggregate in the morter of concrete you mention. That'd have to be cleaned out eventually.

    Crareful

with anything you pick up along RR tracks. Maintanence crews use LOTS of weed killers(Dioxin) around tracks.
